Two people were killed and six others injured when an Omni in which they were travelling fell into a 15-ft deep trench after colliding head-on with a lorry on the Hubli-Dharwad bypass near Dharwad on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Prakash and Chandrashekhar from Bangalore. The injured Mahesh Channagowda, Karthik Kumar Ramesh, Rajesh Shankargowda, Jayakumar, Chetan Kumar and Srikanth Srikantaiah were admitted to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli. The condition of three of them is said to be critical.
According to Dharwad rural police, the mishap took place when they were heading towards Shirdi from Bangalore.
The Dharwad rural police have registered a case.
