2,000 more sites at Arkavathy

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the State government will allot additional 2,000 sites at Arkavathy Layout and will take up development works to provide basic amenities there.

Replying to a question by MLC Doddarange Gowda in Legislative Council on Thursday, he said that Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has developed Arakavathy Layout with 8,813 sites, of which 5,275 have been registered in the names of allottees.

He said that they have focused on revising town planning by creating double roads and planning towns to suit the needs for next 50 years.

Siddaramaiah said the work on Kempegowda Layout will start in October and assured the House that the government will initiate steps to pay compensation to land losers and those who did not opt for 40 per cent of developed sites per acre.

The Chief Minister also assured the House that underground drainage work and the work to provide Cauvery water to BEML Layout near Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bangalore will be started soon.

The government has prepared estimates to start the work to provide basic facilities to 146 houses, he added.
