One more survey to identify left out endosulfan victims

The state government will conduct one more survey to identify victims of endosulfan in Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts, Health Minister U T Khader informed the Council on Monday.

Replying to BJP member Bharathi Shetty during question hour, Khader said that the another survey was to verify whether any victims were left out.

So far 47 victims had died and the Health Department had not paid any compensation, he added.

Outlining several measures taken up by the state government to provide relief to the victims, the minister said that the government had constituted two committees to hear the grievances of the victims and address their plight.

Among others, a committee has been entrusted to identify endosulfan victims, distribute smart cards for free medical services and provide home-based palliative care to those who are chronically affected.
