Government will support mutts: Siddu

The Chief Minister said that the government will support mutts which have been doing social service, if they seek the funds.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seemingly found himself in a situation usually associated with former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. During his visit here on Sunday,

Siddaramaiah did all, except bowing to the feet of seer of Siddaganga Mutt Shivakumara Swamiji.

The centenarian swamiji was awaiting Siddaramaiah’s visit and reportedly did not mind the one-hour delay in his visit.

The Chief Minister honoured the seer with a shawl, garlanded him and offered fruits and received the ditto from the swamiji.

The swamiji along with his juniors showered Siddaramaiah with ‘akshate’ chanting hymns.

When the Swamiji enquired about the rains, Siddaramaiah humbly said that the weather forecast has been positive and monsoon will enter the state in June.

The twist came when Siddaramaiah entered  a chamber along with the swamiji. The duo held one-on-one in-camera meeting for about 10 minutes.

Later, he exchanged pleasantries with Lingayat community leaders.

The Chief Minister told reporters that the government will support mutts which have been doing social service, if they seek the funds.
