The Congress high command has expressed serious displeasure at the reports of former party MP KC Kondaiah’s alleged encroachment of the party’s land in Bellary. The leadership instructed the party’s state unit to take action against Kondaiah to send a clear message that the party would not tolerate any indiscipline or irregularities.

According to party sources, the instruction came after party Vice President Rahul Gandhi was apprised of the alleged construction of a commercial complex by Kondaiah on the land allotted for the district Congress office in Bellary. The state government is expected to withdraw the site and the party state leadership is likely to suspend Kondaiah from the party in a day or two, sources said.

Welcoming the stand of the party high command, the president of Bellary district unit of Congress, J S Anjaneya said ‘cheating’ the party is akin to committing a fraud against one’s own mother. Stringent action should be taken against Kondaiah as he ‘betrayed’ the party which has given him ‘so much’.
