The Opposition JD(S) in the Council urged the state government to invoke the Goonda Act against those found guilty of misusing food grains supplied under the Anna Bhagya scheme.
Participating in a debate on the number of cases registered with the Department of Food and Civil Supplies in this regard, JD(S) floor leader M C Nanaiah urged the state government to invoke the Goonda Act to curb the menace.
The floor leader was reacting to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s statement that over 22 cases were booked across the state ever since the Anna Bhagya scheme was implemented.
