DVS seeks proper price for Sugarcane

Opposition leader in Legislative Assembly D V Sadananda Gowda alleged that about 15,000 sugarcane growers of North Karnataka have come to the streets due to the government’s failure to coordinate with the sugar factories and growers in fixing a proper price for their produce.

During Zero Hour, Gowda said many factories are reeling under loss and the cane growers are not even getting the cost of total cultivation of the crop. He urged the government to fix the price based on the cost of production. It should be like the minimum support price fixed to other crops, he stated.  Basavaraj Horatti of  JD (S) also spoke on the issue.
