Mine-tainted won't be shielded: Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state government is not shielding those involved in the illegal mining case.

He said Lokayukta police have already registered cases against those involved in the scam.

Replying to a question by Opposition Leader Jagadish Shettar in the Legislative Assembly here on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said the government will implement the suggestions and the directions given by the Supreme Court in the case.

He said the cases related to all other illegal export of ore from other ports would be handed over to CBI, except the Belekeri mining scam.

Shettar wanted to know why the government is not taking any legal action against those named in the Lokayukta report.

Siddaramaiah said Lokayukta gave the report two years ago.

Shettar, who was a Chief Minister then, did not take any action on the report.

“Our government is not hesitating to take action against those culprits,” he announced.

At one stage, he asked Shettar was he was sleeping when the Lokayukta gave the report.

Replying to a question asked by Kudachi MLA P Rajeev (BSR Congress), he said that the government has already stopped the illegal mining in Kudachi.
