The BJP is determined to checkmate  the Congress’ move to bring in ordinances to implement AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s much-touted bills on anti-corruption.

BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday warned the Congress against any such plans by declaring that his party would register its protest with President Pranab Mukherjee if the UPA government takes the ordinance route. He was addressing a convention of BJP booth-level workers at Doddaballapur, a town about 35 km away from Bangalore city.

Singh said ordinances  are issued in exceptional cases when the issue is urgent between two sessions of Parliament.  “The BJP is opposed to issuing ordinances when the UPA is seeing its last session of Parliament,” he said.  He said the BJP will urge the President not to sign the ordinances.
