Deputation Norms Flouted in Social Welfare Department

Despite clear-cut guidelines, norms seem to have been flouted blatantly in the district Social Welfare Department.

KOPPAL: Despite clear-cut guidelines, norms seem to have been flouted blatantly in the district Social Welfare Department.

Department Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh in 2011 had issued a circular directing the officials concerned not to depute wardens of the school hostels run by the department citing the reason that they are entrusted with a job of a specific nature and would not be fit for clerical work.

However, many wardens in the district have been deputed as first or second division assistants in the taluk or district offices of the department. Similarly, first or second division assistants have been deputed as hostel wardens, official sources told Express.

For instance, first division assistant in Gangavati taluk Renuka Chalavadi has been deputed as hostel warden at Mangalur village in Yelburga taluk.

First division assistant in Koppal Siddaramappa Koudi has been deputed as hostel warden in Yelburga. Similarly Manjula Vali, who was hostel warden in Kukanoor village, has been deputed as first division assistant in Koppal.

Revati, another first division assistant in Koppal, has been deputed as hostel warden at Hosabandiharlapur village in Koppal taluk.

Another case is that of Santosh, a second division assistant in Koppal, has been deputed as the warden of department’s PU College hostel in Koppal, sources pointed out.

These are only a few instances, they said.

These deputations are done for the convenience of employees and officials, sources charged.

However, Social Welfare Department district officer P Shubha maintained that there have been instances of deputations being done at the government-level  itself.
