Lecturer Ganesh Kenchanal of Kenchanala in Hosanagar taluk used his baby girl’s naming ceremony  to spread awareness on elections.

His one-month-old baby was named Jagruti on Monday. Relatives, friends and villagers participated in the naming ceremony, which was organised in association with the district administration. During the 2013 Assembly elections, Ganesh used his wedding reception to appeal to voters and refused gifts.

He heads the district administration’s street play team, set up to spread awareness among voters.

Former director of Shimoga Rangayana Ho Na Satya and district information officer Himantharaju participated in the programme.
