Over 1 Lakh Maruti Models to be Recalled

Maruti Suzuki India will recall 1,03,311 units of three of its top-selling models to replace a faulty fuel neck filler produced between November 12, 2013, and February 4, 2014.

Though it was initially reported that only mid-size car Dzire would be recalled, latest reports said its UV model Ertiga and compact car Swift will also be recalled to replace the faulty part. “This exercise is limited to vehicles within the above specified range and does not pertain to any other vehicle,” the company said.

It said there was a possibility of fuel smell and in some extreme cases chance of fuel leak if the tank was filled beyond the auto cut-off level.

“Maruti Suzuki dealers will contact owners of all vehicles in the above mentioned range. The company will replace the fuel filler neck free of cost,” the company statement said.

The recall, however, is not the first by the company. In 2010, it had recalled close to one lakh units of A-Star to replace a faulty fuel pump start.
