Former deputy chairman of Legislative Council and senior Janata Dal(Secular) leader David Simeon joined the Congress on Saturday. Admitting the JD(S) leader to the party fold, KPCC president G Parameshwara said Simeon has joined the Congress unconditionally. He will work for the success of party candidates in the elections. Parameshwara said BJP seems to be facing a leadership crisis in the state. Hence, Gujarat Chief Minister has been making frequent visits here. He was optimistic that Congress will win a minimum of 20 seats in the state.

The good governance of the state government and its commitment to uplift the poor and downtrodden will pay rich dividend for the Congress in the polls.

Simeon said the recent developments in the JD(S) has forced him to leave the party. Congress is the natural choice for him as it is the only party which believes in maintaining the secular fabric of the country. JD(S) leader and former opposition leader in the BBMP Syed Jameel was also inducted into the party. Congress candidate C Narayanaswamy and others were present.
