4 Poll Officials Suspended for Proxy Voting

Deputy Commissioner S K Sathyamurthy on Saturday suspended four polling officials who were allegedly involved in proxy voting at Kolaghatta polling station in Turuvekere taluk during elections to the Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency.

The accused are polling station returning officer Rajanna, who is an assistant teacher at a PU college in Huliyar; first polling officer Krishnamurthy, who is an assistant teacher at the government higher primary school at Aralakatte in Gubbi taluk; second polling officer Kantharaju, who is an assistant teacher at government higher primary school at Hanumanthapura of Koratagere taluk, and third polling officer Suresh, who is a second division clerk at District Treasury Office.

They have been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty during polling, keeping the inquiry pending, said ADC Peddappaiah.
