In a gang-war between two groups at Sanjeevnagar of Gulbarga on Friday night, leader of one of the gangs was killed while the leader of another sustained bullet injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ravi Bairamadagi (27).

Gulbarga Superintendent of Police Amit Singh told reporters on Saturday that gang leader Srinath alias Shinu alias Shinya would frequently demand `20,000 from one Chandru.

Chandru in turn complained to the leader of another gang Ravi Bairamadagi.

On Friday night at about  9  pm, Ravi spoke to Shinya about the harassment.

 A quarrel ensued between Shinya and Ravi over telephone.

Subsequently Ravi went to Sanjeevnagar where Shinya was staying at his maternal uncle’s house.

A fight took place between the gangs of Ravi and of Shinya.

Ravi shot Shinya on his back with his pistol injuring him.  

In response Shinya shot Ravi who sustained injuries to his stomach.

 Shinya’s followers attacked Ravi with clubs and boulders and Ravi died on the spot.

SP Amit Singh visited the spot on Friday night.

Shinya was admitted to Basaveshwara General Hospital.

The doctors operated on him and removed bullets from his back.

Amit Singh said Ravi Bairamadagi had been involved in many murder cases and cases have been booked against him at Bhalki police station of

Bidar district, Bijapur police station, Gulbarga Rural police station and Station Bazar police station.

It is said that he was also involved in illegal arms smuggling.

Ravi is the follower of Bhagappa Harijan, the brother of notorious contract killer Chandappa Harijan known as ‘Bhima Teerada Hantaka’.

Shinya also was also accused in the murder of Sharanu Saradagi (Appya)  which took place under the M B Nagar Police Station limits in 2012.

 A case has been registered at Chowk Police station.

Teams have been formed to nab the accused, the Superintendent of Police said.
