Former Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde visited protestors who are opposing the 400 kV High Tension wire passing through Kodagu, at their camp in front of Heramdu Eshwara Temple near Sreemangala.

On the 32nd day of the protest, Hegde spoke to them for nearly an hour and expressed his anguish over the attitude of authorities as no one had visited them.

He wondered why lakhs of trees were being cut and private land was being taken away when there was an alternative route available. Hegde said he would give suggestions and support the protest in Bangalore.

He said he would not talk to the government as his words were being misconstrued, citing his report on mining. ENS
