Truckers Seek Hike in Freight Charges

Owners of trucks engaged in transportation of iron ore from mines to steel factories have demanded a three per cent increase in freight charges.

Owners of trucks engaged in transportation of iron ore from mines to steel factories have demanded a three per cent increase in freight charges.

Bellary Mine Lorry Owners’ Association president Venkata Rao told reporters on Sunday that some of the steel companies have refused to hike the rates despite taking a decision in this regard at a meeting held by Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas last year.

Some firms are not ready to revise the transportation charges. Instead, they are giving the orders to those who offer discounts on transportation, Rao alleged.
