His last call was to district JD(S) president Dr M R Hulinayker. “He spoke to me at 7 pm and said he would arrive in Tumkur to visit Turuvekere to asses his chances of winning,” he said.
Both the leaders spent almost 12 hours together every day during campaigning and shared a good rapport. “None of us indulged in mudslinging at Chikkanayakanahalli segment during the campaign,” remarked his BJP rival G S Basavaraju. Congress candidate S P Muddahanume Gowda expressed shock. He was close to Krishnappa when he was a minister in S M Krishna’s regime.
“He had taken the polls in a sportive spirit and hence we did not trade baseless allegations,” he said.Gubbi JD(S) MLA S R Srinivas was all praise for Krishnappa. “He never said no to suggestions by party workers,” he said.
But Krishnappa was not as confident about Turuvekere Assembly segment though it was represented by JD(S) MLA M T Krishnappa.
