Preparations are in full swing to host the All India Inter-University Sports Meet at Moodbidri with international synthetic athletic track being laid at the Moodbidri Swaraj Stadium. The stadium belonging to the state government is being upgraded for the sports meet at a cost of `5 crore with all the facilities. Explaining the new initiatives for giving a big boost to sports in the State, Jain said all the 28 sports hostels in the State would be upgraded and 75 coaches would be appointed soon. At least one stadium would be built in each gram panchayat limits under a centrally sponsored scheme. The union government would provide `1 lakh per stadium. Sports equipment too would be provided under the scheme.
