The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday threatened to approach court if the Election Commission fails to take action against miscreants who assaulted party volunteers at Mayaganahalli near Ramanagaram on April 17.

AAP volunteers submitted a written complaint along with photographs and a FIR copy registered at Ramnagaram police station to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anil Kumar Jha.

Party volunteer Chandan, who was also assaulted, told Express: “Jha has assured us that he will write to the Chief Election Commissioner in this regard. We will wait for the Election Commission’s reply and if no action is taken, we will approach the court”.

Chandan alleged that on the day of polling, they were takings photographs of Congress workers distributing money to voters when they thrashed him and his colleagues. The incident was even recorded by video observers. Despite this, the ringleader who thrashed us has not been arrested, he said. When contacted, Jha said:  “A DGP rank officer has been asked to conduct a probe and file a report.”
