Kagwad police on Saturday arrested a teacher from Shiraguppi in Athani taluk, for allegedly raping his daughter.
His daughter, who was raped on August last year, had kept mum on the issue as she was threatened by the accused not to disclose the matter.
The 50-year-old accused from Muddebihal in Bagalkot district had settled in Shiraguppi about a year ago and worked in an Arabic school at the village. He had two wives and eight children, including the victim.
On the night of August 4, 2013, he allegedly raped his daughter and threatened to kill her if she told anyone of the incident.
The victim had kept the matter secret, but confided in her mother after her father tried to rape her again on Saturday.
The victim, along with her mother, then filed a complaint with the Kagwad police in this regard.
