BANGALORE: Chaos reigned in the Council on Wednesday when the House debated the appointments of V-Cs by former governor  H R Bhardwaj.

Raising the issue during a debate on the demands of the Higher Education Department, BJP member V A Narayanaswamy charged that the appointments made by Bhardwaj smacked of corruption.

This irked the Congress members.  V S Ugrappa said, “It is against the provisions of the rules and procedures of the House.” He urged Deputy Chairman Vimala Gowda to expunge the remarks made against Bhardwaj. The House saw more pandemonium when a BJP member also referred to Bhardwaj’s appointments, and likened them to ‘poisoning a drinking water well’.

Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande said, “You (Opposition) people are only raising your voice and not coming forward with any proof.”
