Vimala to Seek 'Justice for Women'

BANGALORE: Forced to quit from the Deputy Chairperson’s post in Legislative Council, Vimala Gowda has vented her ire against Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy blaming him for her unceremonious exit. Vimala Gowda has decided to express her displeasure with the party high command and is likely to take up the issue with BJP national leaders after the ongoing budget session of the Parliament.

“I have decided to go to Delhi in the first week of August along with a delegation of state BJP Women’s wing to demand greater representation for women in the BJP government and the party,” she said speaking to Express.

Apart from seeking implementation of 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures and Parliament, the delegation will also demand representation for women in state BJP core committee.

According to party sources, Vimala has been assured of the Chairman’s post if Shankaramurthy is moved out in the coming months by making him a Governor of any state, the reports of which is already doing the rounds.
