BANGALORE: Jnanpith awardee U R Ananthamurthy is an agricultural labourer, Upa Lokayukta Subhash Adi is unemployed and Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande belongs to the Scheduled Castes, according to certificates issued by a tahsildar in Belgaum district.
BJP leader K S Eshwarappa, while exposing the operations of touts securing bogus caste, income and profession certificates by influencing tahsildars and other officials in the state in the Legislative Council, pointed out these startling errors found in certificates.
Raising the issue during the zero hour, Eshwarappa showed copies of certificates issued by Belgaum taluk office tahsildar without verifying the authenticity of information.
Urging the government to initiate strong action against erring officials, he said, “This shows the poor governance in the state.” The tahsildar had also issued unemployment certificates for Latha Krishna Rao and Gangaram Baderia (IAS officers) and Charan Reddy (IPS).
