MANDYA: Nagamangala police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl. Siddaraju (25), a painter, was arrested after the victim’s parents gave a complaint to the police in this regard.
The girl is a resident of G Bommanahalli in Devadurga hobli in Nagamangala taluk. The girl, who has passed SSLC, was staying with her parents.
According to the police, the girl had befriended Siddaraju, who is her distant relative. On July 8, Siddaraju and the girl went on a tour without informing their parents and returned to village on July 10. The girl’s parents questioned her about going on a tour with Siddaraju. The matter was brought before the village leaders. They called the parents of the girl and Siddaraju to resolve the issue. However, the girl’s parents did not agree for a compromise.
On July 16, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint against Siddaraju of raping their minor daughter. The police immediately arrested Siddaraju and produced him before the court. He was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. The minor girl was taken to Nagamangala taluk hospital for a medical test, the police added.
