BANGALORE: A 28-year-old inebriated man was thrashed by the public and handed over to the police after he allegedly tried to misbehave with a eight-year-old girl near Konanakunte Cross around 8.30 pm on Sunday.

Police said the girl had gone out with her grandfather to buy vegetables.

Suraj, a native of Andhra Pradesh who was doing odd jobs in the city, and two others, who came on a motorcycle, pushed the grandfather and dragged the girl for some distance.

When the grandfather raised alarm, locals caught Suraj, beat him up and handed him over to a Hoysala patrol squad. Suraj’s accomplices, however, managed to escape. Subramanyapura police have registered a case and are investigating.
