Former MLC A K Subbaiah criticised the State government for forming a high-level Committee to look into the 400 KV high tension (HT) line passing through the district. He termed the government’s move  ‘a cowardly act’.

He told reporters that owing to heavy lobbying by JD (S) MLC M C Nanaiah and Raita Sangha leader and MLA K S Puttannaiah, the committee was formed and urged the government to drop the proposal.

Subbaiah came down heavily on Energy Minister D K Shivakumar who offered milk to Cauvery Sene leader Ravi Chengappa and urged him to end the 38-day protest against the project.

He alleged that it was ‘a political gimmick’.
