'Siddu Misused Office for Poll Fund Collection'

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday reiterated his charge that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah misused his office to collect huge funds for elections.

He asked the Chief Minister to bring out a White Paper on cases of denotification, land conversion and release of funds to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) before the announcement of general elections.

Gowda told reporters here that he was making the charges after receiving credible information.

On Siddaramaiah’s denial of the charges, he asked: “If this is the case, why is the government not providing information sought by me on a number of cases of land conversion and denotification done in the last 10 months in the state.”Accusing the government of withholding information on these issues, he said: “I am left with no option but to seek information through the RTI.”

He also charged that the Chief Minister failed to discharge his duty in providing succour to the victims in drought-hit areas and farmers who had lost their standing crops due to hailstorm and untimely rains.
