The drought-hit Chamarajnagar has about 5,528 applicants sweating it out in the contest for 111 civil constable posts.
The district police had invited applications for 89 male and 22 female constable posts, but as many as 4,866 men and 662 women have applied. The applicants have been divided into 11 groups and have been invited for an endurance test that includes running (for 1,600 metres), high and long jump and shot put. Those who pass the test will then have to take a written examination. SP Rajendra Prasad said a provisional list will be announced after taking into consideration the applicants’ PUC marks as well.
