S R Hiremath of Samaj Parivartan Samudaya has opposed the proposal of using Gomala land for industrial purposes.
He told reporters here on Sunday that the proposal mooted by Law Minister Jayachandra should be opposed. Leaving a portion of land in villages for grazing cattle is scientific and environment-friendly, he said.
He alleged that local leaders had encroached such lands in many villages and the government should reclaim these. Utilising Gomala land for industrial use is illegal. The Gundu Rao family topped the list of encroachers, he alleged.
To a query, he said he had not submitted all records on encroachment by Dinesh Gundu Rao to the Governor. He said his forum would fight against encroachments in Begum Talab and Ram Ling Kere in Bijapur.
