Gandhi Statue Vandalised in KGF

KGF: The Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Gandhi Circle here was found damaged on Sunday.

Police arrested Manohar (62), a former BGML Employee and resident of G Block in Champion Reef here in connection with the case.

Under the influence of alcohol, he climbed its six-foot base and pushed the statue causing damage to it.

The incident took place around 3 am. The police arrested him within an hour with help from  a CCTV footage.

This was the third such incident in recent past. An unidentified person had damaged the statue before a mentally challenged person was involved in a simiar act. 

The municipal authorities had replaced the statue after the incidents. The original statue had been unveiled by former chief minister Nijalingappa.
