CHIKBALLAPUR: Three members of a family were killed on the spot and another was seriously injured when their car was hit by a tipper near Devisettyhalli near Chikballapur on Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Jayaram (36), a farmer, his wife Ambika (32) and their daughter Monisha (8), residents of Haliyur near Devanahalli in Bangalore Rural district.
According to the police, Jayaram and his family members were going to offer prayers at a Nandi temple when the tipper rammed their car coming from the opposite direction, killing the three on the spot.
The couple’s other daughter Nayana (11) was rushed to a private hospital in Bangalore.
The couple had planned a visit to the temple to offer prayers before sending their wards to a new school which is scheduled to reopen on Monday.
