Basavanna Takes Charge as KUD Registrar

DHARWAD: Dr M Basavanna took charge as Registrar (Evaluation) of Karnatak University from in-charge registrar J S Bhat on Monday.

M-Basavanna.jpgBasavanna was appointed to fill the post vacated by H T Pote, who was arrested by the Lokayukta police in connection with the alleged irregularities in KUD recently.  Bhat was asked by the Governor’s office to hold the post till the new appointment was made. Basavanna told reporters that he would work honestly and with dedication to bring a good name to the university.

He called upon students and parents not to get disturbed by the recent developments in KUD.

When asked about the inquiry ordered by the Syndicate on Registrar (Administration) C S Kanagali for allegedly failing to provide M Phil answerscripts as head of the English Department to the examination section, he said he would give any information sought after going through the records.

Dr Basavanna has served as professor in the department of Geology in KUD and in the Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University Mysore as registrar and in-charge vice-chancellor.
