BENGALURU: The Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the alleged corruption in the Lokayukta institution is preparing a questionnaire for Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao to get his statement upon his return from leave on August 14.
The questionnaire includes posers on the alleged misuse of the conference hall and telephone in the Lokayukta office as well as the official residence of Bhaskar Rao.
Justice Rao is expected to hoist the national flag on August 15 at the office of the Lokayukta. All Lokayukta staff have been asked to be at the office at 7.30 am and the flag-hoisting is scheduled at 8 am. If Justice Rao does not attend the Independence Day programme, Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi will hoist the flag.
In such an event, Justice Rao will be given the questionnaire on August 17 when he returns to work, sources said.
During the arguments on his bail plea, Lokayukta PRO Syed Riyaz’s counsel had argued that Riyaz could not refuse if Justice Rao had asked him to receive his son and accommodate him in the conference hall.
Taking all this into account, the SIT officials will seek Justice Rao’s reply on all these matters. The questions include whether he has knowledge of the alleged deals in the conference hall as well as his official residence and also about the statements given by accused Ashwin, Ashok Kumar, M B Srinivasa Gowda, Shankare Gowda, Syed Riyaz and V Bhaskar.
The SIT had found some important files in the office of Syed Riyaz and also from the residence of Justice Bhaskar Rao. Hence, Justice Rao’s statement on all these issues is necessary, an SIT official told Express.
