Jumbo Rampage Leaves 2 Injured in Tumakuru
TUMAKURU: The wild animal menace continues unabated in Tumakuru. An elephant which got separated from its herd attacked two people and two cows on Wednesday.
Kalpana (35), sustained fractures when the tusker tossed her around with its trunk when she was working in the fields.
The elephant then attacked Lokesh (34) at Samudranahalli near Mallasandra. Both were rushed to the district hospital here and Kalpana was later referred to a private hospital in Bengaluru.
Later, the same elephant attacked two cows, sources said. The remaining eight elephants returned to the Savanadurga forests in Magadi taluk of Ramanagaram district, ACF Nagendra Rao said. However, farmers in Gubbi taluk claim to have sighted three elephants which the officials dismissed.
Meanwhile, three leopards have been creating panic among residents of Kadaba Hobli, Gubbi taluk, for the past four days. According to the residents, a leopard killed two goats on Tuesday night.
