BELAGAVI: The district administration is likely to ban a Marathi drama based on the controversial Marathi board put up at Yellur village in Belagavi taluk.

‘Mee Choutara Bolatoya’ is based on the removal of the board ‘Maharashtra Rajya Yellur’ which was put up by Maharashtrians at the entrance of the village.

The drama is written by Jeetendra Redekar and directed by Sujith Birje. On Wednesday, the play was staged in a Marathi drama competition held in the city. Deputy Commissioner Jayaram said the administration would go through the script of the drama.

If it is against the interests of Karnataka and could create linguistic tension among Kannadigas and Marathis, the drama would be banned, he warned.
