A Return to BJP Likely

BENGALURU: The state BJP may readmit former minister G Janardhana Reddy provided he agrees to its conditions, party sources have said.

The mining baron is expected to be out of prison on  bail on Friday after spending three years and four months in jail over a multi-crore illegal mining scam.

BJP president Prahlad Joshi, however, said they have not given any thought to his readmission. “Let him first come out of jail. Then we will decide on it. He might also need time to recuperate and at the same time, we don’t know what Reddy has in mind,” Joshi told Express.

He said Reddy is only coming out on conditional bail, which is just a temporary reprieve. “He will have his own issues to tackle. We will be happy if he comes clean by clearing all the cases,” he added.

Reddy’s brother G Somashekhar Reddy is still in the BJP, while his friend and MP B Sriramulu returned to the party and successfully contested the Ballari Lok Sabha election.
