DAVANGERE: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on behalf of the Karnataka, sent a special gift package for US President Barack Obama and first Lady Michelle Obama on their arrival to India on Republic day.
Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) chairman Basavaraj D on Thursday said the CM has sent Mysore silk shawls, silk shirt and handkerchiefs for the President and dress materials and scarves for the first Lady.
Information Department director Vishukumar will hand this gift package to Obama’s security personnel on Thursday. The package also contains Channapatna toys.
The Chief Minister has also written a letter to Obama about the 102-year Mysore Silk Factory, which was opened in 1912 by the then King of Mysore, Basavaraj said. The office of the President of India had received 100 pairs of shawls and dhotis of Mysore Silk from the factory, he added.
