Varsity to Collect Convocation Fee With Admission Fee

SHIVAMOGGA: Kuvempu University has decided to collect the convocation fee along with the admission fee, from regular students, from the next academic year, said registrar (evaluation) Bhojya Naik.

It was a challenging effort for the students to collect their graduation certificate even after submitting their applications, for a year or two.

There were around 35,000 to 40,000 certificates pending with the university.  The issue of issuing certificates was a problem for the university as well as the students who had to collect it.  It was an uphill task for any new registrar, most of whom said the disbursement of certificates was their priority. “There is no single certificate which is there with the university, as all the certificates have been disbursed,” said registrar (evaluation) Bhojya Naik. He added, “The university has decided to collect convocation fees with the admission fee, in the beginning of the academic year. So this change has been made for easier distribution of certificates to the students.

The university has dropped the idea of collecting fees for certificates at the time of convocation,” he said. He said the university has also made it compulsory to collect applications online, for examinations, re-evaluation and re-totaling.

The students can remit the examination fee with the post office as well, he said.

Tamper Proof Certificate KU in association with Tata Consultancy Services are distributing tamper proof plastic certificates. The student’s photograph will be affixed with the certificate. The photograph must be uploaded while submitting applications online, said Bhojya.
