Mysuru all set for Prince Yaduveer's wedding today

An emotional Pramoda Devi breaks down while offering floral tributes to late Srikantadatta

MYSURU: It was an emotional moment for royal family members as Pramoda Devi broke down while offering flowers (pushparchana) to the portrait of her late husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

The members of both the families who were excited over the wedding of Yaduveer with Trishika Kumari, were in for a shock and observed silence for a moment when Pramoda Devi could not control her emotions on the third day of the wedding rituals.

Yaduveer too could not control his tears while offering floral tribute to his foster father Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who died on December 10, 2013. Pramoda Devi soon recovered and was seen chatting with the family members.

Yaduveer attended the late evening functions like Gange Puja in Somanatheshwara temple inside the palace, Ganapathy puja and Samavarthana homa in Chamundi Thotti of the palace along with his biological parents Tripura Sundari Devi and Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs.

The rituals were conducted by more than a dozen temple priests and witnessed by 200 guests and family members. Yaduveer’s upanayana ceremony was held where he wore a sacred thread for entering into Grihastha from Brahmacharya as he will tie the nuptial knot with Trishika Kumari at Karkataka langam between 9.05am and 9.35am on Monday.

Yaduveer was presented with an umbrella, a pair of slippers, a book, a walking stick for Kashi yatra by Trishika Kumari’s parents Harshvardhan Singh and Maheshree Kumari of Dungarpur royal family.

Yaduveer went in a procession with royal family members around the palace wearing slippers and carrying an umbrella. The procession visited all the 12 temples inside the palace. Harshvardhan Singh and Maheshree Kumari, parents of Trishika, performed padapuja to Yaduveer and expressed their wish to get their daughter married to him.

Palace decked up

Mysore Palace is decked up for the big day. The palace staff, under the supervision of Pramoda Devi, have completed seating arrangements for VVIPs, family members and others at the Kalyana Mantap with a seating capacity for about 550.

The royal family has invited around 2,000 people for the wedding reception that will be held at Durbar Hall.

Meanwhile, the city corporation officials have stepped up cleaning work around the palace. The cops have beefed up security as many VVIPs, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, would grace the occasion.
