BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday urged his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath to order a thorough probe by an “efficient agency” into the death of IAS officer Anurag Tiwari.
In his letter to Adityanath, Siddaramaiah said the circumstances leading to Tiwari’s death should be “thoroughly investigated by a competent team of investigators”.
The 2007 batch IAS officer who was posted as the Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies Department in Bengaluru was found dead near a government guest house in Lucknow on his 36th birthday on Wednesday.
Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Kharandlaje suspected the hand of “foodgrain mafia” in the death of Tiwari.
The BJP leader also wrote to Adityanath saying, “a multi-crore scam was unearthed in the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. This was being investigated by Tiwari. I learnt he had prepared a detailed dossier. Anurag’s brother too expressed fear of powerful hands. Since the entire incident involves two states, it should be given to CBI for a probe,’’ she said in her letter.
