HASSAN: Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal Revanna would be contesting the 2018 Assembly elections from Rajarajeswari in Bengaluru or Belur assembly constituency in Hassan district, said Bhavani Revanna daughter-in-law of Gowda.

Bhavani Revanna said that Deve Gowda had already given the green signal to fight elections and her son Prajwal would be contesting the 2018 Assembly elections from Rajarajeswari in Bengaluru or Belur assembly constituency in Hassan district.

"JDS has taken 2018 elections as a challenge and the party will come to power as people are frustrated with the two national parties," she said.

When asked about her candidature she said that it is too early to say. But she will abide by the decision of Gowda.

On Monday, HD Deve Gowda's family visited the Deshweshwara Temple, the home god of Gowda at Haradanahalli in Holenarasipur taluk to perform 'Shatarudra homa'.

A group of eleven priests led by Ramachandra Bhat from Sirsi performed the ritual for the success of "Vikasayatre" led by former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy ahead of the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.

Devegowda, Channamma Devegowda, HD Kumara Swamy, Bhavani Revanna and  Suraj Revanna, the first son of Revanna took part in the homa and rituals went on for three hours.

Sources in the family said that the priests also performed special pooja for Ganesha, Anjaneya, Deshwara and Lakshminarasimha in the name of family members of Gowda. Later the family also performed pooja at the Ranganatha Swamy temple in Mavinakere hill shrine near Halekote of the same taluk.

Interestingly, Prajwal second son of Revanna chose to stay away from the homa.
