All is well at Infosys, says Narayana Murthy

“All is well at Infosys,” said Infosys co-founder and former Chairperson N R Narayana Murthy on Wednesday.

BENGALURU:“All is well at Infosys,” said Infosys co-founder and former Chairperson N R Narayana Murthy on Wednesday. He was speaking along the sidelines of the Infosys Science Foundation Awards’ announcement.

On scouting for a new CEO for Infosys, Murthy said there is no need to give advice to the present chairman Nandan Nilekani because he had been a good CEO himself.

“Having been a good CEO himself, he knows what is required. So, there is no need for advice,” he said. His remarks come days after he had expressed disappointment over Nilekani giving clean chit to Sikka in the Panaya deal.

Murthy praises Nilekani at function

Bengaluru: Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy on Wednesday said, “All is well at Infosys.”

On October 24, Nilekani had declared that the company had found no evidence of wrongdoing in the contentious $200 million acquisition of Israeli automation technology firm Panaya Ltd in 2015, done by Sikka. The board had also refused to put out additional details of the probe, as had been demanded by Murthy. Murthy had said, “None of the questions I had raised about ‘poor governance’ had been answered by the company’s board with transparency.”

However, on Wednesday, Murthy recalled what he had said at the investors’ meet held on August 29 - five days after Nilekani took over as chairman of Infosys.

“In my speech with the investors, we said that now that we have Nandan as the chairman, we can all sleep well. He is a very organised person. His strength is the simplification of complex ideas. There are lots of complexities and he has his hands full. Let’s leave it to him and let’s keep quiet, so that he can do his job well,” he recalled.
