Crocodile rescued from Kuppanna Park in Mysuru

The crocodile measured two meters long and could have possibly come from Karanji lake since it had rained the whole night on Tuesday and water was overflowing from the drains.

MYSURU: Forest department officials rescued a crocodile from the Kuppanna Park, situated in the heart of the city on Wednesday morning.

A few guards and pourakarmikas were surprised when they saw this uninvited guest at a small pond in the park around 7 am and they immediately alerted the forest department officials.

Akram Khan, assistant to veterinary doctors of the forest department along with four other men rushed to the spot and pulled out the male crocodile aged around two to two-and-a-half years from the pond. Later they tied the mouth of this reptile using a rope.

Deputy conservator of forest V Yedukundala told the New Indian Express that rescue operations went on for 30 minutes and that the crocodile had been released in Gendehosalli bird sanctuary situated at the downstream of Cauvery river. Gendehosalli is situated 20 kilometres away from KRS Dam.

The officer said the crocodile measured two meters long and could have possibly come from Karanji lake since it had rained the whole night on Tuesday and water was overflowing from the drains. The huge Karanji lake, which is situated close to the park , is home to a considerable number of crocodiles.
