BELAGAVI: After attempts on Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of Chickamagaluru, some illegal sand minors attacked Chikkodi tahsildar and two of his subordinates when they raided a sand mining den at Examba in Chikkodi taluk on Thursday night.
Acting on specific information, tahsildar C S Kulkarni and two officials raided the sand mining dens at Dodhganga river, near the state border.
When they were trying to pull out sand-laden boats to the river bank, they were stoned by illegal miners. Officials sustained minor injuries.
The sand miners are said to be authorised by Maharashtra government to mine sand from the river in its jurisdiction. However, these miners had trespassed into Karnataka, source said.
Kulkarni said three boats which were on the banks of the river were seized and that a case will be filed against the accused.
