BENGALURU: The BJP on Friday criticised the public dressing down by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of a Mandya SP for his failure to prevent BJP workers from showing black flags during an event on Thursday.

BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said the public humiliation of SP C H Sudhir Kumar Reddy is deplorable. “This incident has all the potential to trigger insubordination. The chief minister has pushed the SP to a situation from where he would find it extremely difficult to command the respect of his juniors and people.”

While the BJP does not condone any lapse on the part of the government servant, including police officers, Kumar said action for error on the part of bureaucrats and police officers has to be undertaken in a discreet manner.
