BENGALURU: The infighting within Karnataka BJP took an ugly turn on Thursday as trouble erupted at the 'Save BJP’ convention held at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. The convention was organised by the group opposing BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa’s style of functioning.

There was a commotion at the venue as a few members of the audience tried to protest when MLC Bhanuprakash attacked Yeddyurappa in his address by calling the latter a 'useless leader'.

The protesters demanded Bhanuprakash to withdraw his comments and stop his tirade against Yeddyurappa. This led to an uproar at Palace grounds, after which supporters of dissident BJP leader K S Eshwarappa tried to push the protesters out.

As both the groups were engaged in hurling abuses at each other, a section of the gathering allegedly assaulted the protesters. Police had to intervene and take the protesters out to avoid a violent clash.

Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa has reiterated that disciplinary action will be initiated against those who participated in the convention.

Eshwarappa and Bhanuprakash in their address attacked Yeddyurappa by calling the latter a dictator.
