HD Deve Gowda denies reports of family feud

The political buzz about JD(S)-Congress pact and fissures within HD Deve Gowda’s family for power has apparently caused a few worries in the party.

BENGALURU: The political buzz about JD(S)-Congress pact and fissures within HD Deve Gowda’s family for power has apparently caused a few worries in the party. However, the former Prime Minister scotched the reports here on Friday by asserting that nobody could divide his family.

Gowda, who is on a rejuvenation stay at a nature cure hospital in the city, denied reports of a secret pact between his son H D Revanna and CM Siddaramaiah. Gowda also denied any rift between his sons H D Kumaraswamy, who is the party state president, and H D Revanna for power. Revanna never had an ambition to be the Chief Minister. The two siblings have a very good relationship. “My word is still final in our family and no one in the family will defy my word. Revanna will never go against me,” Gowda said speaking to reporters.

Gowda said that there were forces trying to split the family and said that they will not succeed. “I will not allow the family to split as long as I am alive. I will not allow my family to go Mulayam Singh Yadav’s way.” JD(S) will contest in all the 224 constituencies and there is no question having an understanding with any party, he added.
