Hublot row still haunts Siddaramaiah as former Karnataka cop seeks high-level probe

There is no respite yet for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from the `70 lakh Hublot watch gift controversy.

BENGALURU: There is no respite yet for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from the Rs 70 lakh Hublot watch gift controversy. Former police officer Anupama Shenoy on Monday accused Siddaramaiah of awarding two multi-crore projects to a Dubai-based company as a thanks giving gesture for the expensive gift.

Shenoy, in a letter to Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad, has sought a high-level probe into the contracts.

According to Shenoy, the projects have been awarded to a company in which Dr Girish Chandra Verma, who gifted the watch to Siddaramaiah was employed. The Jog Falls Tourism Development Project and upgradation of a government hospital in Udupi have been offered to a business group by violating rules, she alleged.
