AICTE to conduct ‘Hardware Hackathon’

MYSURU: Here is an opportunity for students to get patent for gadgets developed by them and find solutions to various hardware problems in technology field.The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is planning to conduct a ‘Hardware Hackathon’ for students from across the country this year.
Anil D Sahasrabudhe, chairman of AICTE, told Express that industry experts will shortlist students from different institutions for this hackathon which is the first of its kind in the country.The AICTE chairman was in the city to attend a programme at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering.


“If 95 per cent of the prototype of gadgets, hardware devices, and solutions developed by students work properly, the AICTE will assist them to make it a complete product and students will also get patent for their invention,” said Anil.  Disclosing more information about ‘Hardware Hackathon’, Anil said:“Last year, we have organised ‘Digital Hackathon’ for technical students, where students showcased different software solutions and solutions for mobile applications. Students from technical institutions, including school students and working professionals, can participate in ‘Hardware Hackathon,” he added.


“Students should come up with a gadget that can help visually challenged to read, a robot that is capable of doing things which humans can’t do. Such inventions will be appreciated in this year’s hackathon,” he added. However, Anil said they have not yet taken a decision on the venue of hackathon.
